Brussels, July 19, 2022
The Minister of Information Society and Administration, Admirim Aliti, took part in today's historic event in Brussels, at the headquarters of the European Union, as part of the government delegation, at the first intergovernmental conference with the EU that opens the process for the admission of North Macedonia to the European Union.
The minister emphasized that North Macedonia has been waiting for this historic day for decades, and after the lifting of Bulgaria's veto, it became possible to start negotiations for the country's membership in the EU.
"In Europe, in this democratic society, we function united as a stem and a multicultural society that cherishes the values of democracy, justice and well-being. This morning, Ursula von der Leyen pointed out that our country will soon start negotiations with the EU on FRONTEX and other agreements that would make life easier for the citizens of North Macedonia. Our job and goal as the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is to make life easier for the citizens and it is especially important that we have such good news in this time of economic crisis," said Minister Aliti.
The minister said that, as part of the European Union, we must work together to ensure peace, justice and well-being for all citizens, respecting diversity on any grounds.
