Eleventh meeting of the Public Administration Reform Special Group (PAR SG) between the European Commission and North Macedonia

The eleventh meeting of the Public Administration Reform Special Group (PAR SG) between the European Commission and North Macedonia was held on September 23rd, 2021, in the frames of the Stabilization and Association Committee.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Information Society and Administration Jeton Shaqiri and Biljana Nikolovska Zagar from the Office of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia and Michela Matuella from the EC’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations. The meeting was also attended by representatives of EU member states, as well as SIGMA and the Regional School of Public Administration.

The European Commission stressed that public administration reform is a key area of ​​the Basics Cluster. National officials underlined that public administration reform remains one of the government's key priorities.

The main focus at the meeting was on the progress made in key areas of public administration principles: the strategic framework for public administration reform, public service and human resource management, policy development and coordination, as well as accountability and delivery of public services.

The institutions made a commitment to further implement the reforms related to the integration process. The European Commission reaffirmed its support for North Macedonia on its path to European integration.

As in previous years, part of the discussions at the meeting were joint conclusions, which after their adoption by both parties will be published on the website of the Ministry of Information Society and Administration. The SEA will continue to consistently monitor the implementation of the undertaken obligations and to report on the same in the process of North Macedonia’s preparation for EU membership.
